The Christian charity, Caritas has unveiled a new logo as part of a rebranding move geared towards increasing its impact in humanitarian services provisions.

Caristas, a Catholic based NGO, works on a wide range of areas, including health, education and food security.

The unveiling last week was presided over by Bishop Henry Aruna, President of Caritas Sierra Leone and head of the Kenema Diocese.

According to the charity, the new logo entails a cross with 12 symbols of bright shining lights. The logo notably seeks to harmonise the four regional headquarters of Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Freetown where Caritas operates in the country.

“We rebrand to create value, rethink, [and] reposition to positively impact”, said Bishop Aruna at the unveiling ceremony held at the St. John Paul II Pastoral Center, 25 Kinsella Street in Freetown.

Also present at the ceremony was Edward Tamba Charles, the Archbishop of Freetown.

And representing the government was Mr. Eric Mansaray from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development. He said that the new logo represented openness and accountability, assuring the Catholic Church of government’s continued support as long as their work is geared towards helping the poor and is in line with the National Development Agenda.

Kayode Akintola, Country Representative of CAFOD, in a keynote address reflected on how Jesus asked Peter to feed his sheep which he said they as church leaders must emulate for the good of the poor people.
