Dr. Akinwumi Adesina

You know it’s hard, to predict in a situation wherein you have a virus that is just ravaging the place, but I think first and foremost the fintech sector (Financial Technology):

Financial Technology, Fintech

Everything is going to go back to digital and that’s why investment in digital infrastructure, investment in data centers, and investment in content creators is going to be very important.

The young people of Africa are leading the way in the fintech industry, it’s amazing. Even despite the fact that foreign direct investment in Africa has gone down, if there’s one sector that has actually gone up, it is the fintech industry. So I expect the digital economy to be driving. So I think countries will invest more in not only digital economy, but digitizing their whole systems.

Healthcare

It took only one single virus running around to throw all of us into this mess. So it just tells us that we have not been investing enough. So I expect that investment in the healthcare industry and investment in vaccine production and pharmaceuticals will be very big.

Green Economy

If I look at the green economy in Africa alone it’s almost about $8tn. So you have to go into renewable energy. I expect you’ll find a lot more investment also going into making sure that you can have affordable access to decentralized energy system in Africa, because it’s not just the green system that will go. And of course, I will expect that we will also see a significant amount of investment going into agriculture.
