The Descendants of Kindia town section in Bo, Southern Sierra Leone on the 1st January 2022 supported the disabled, aged, and other vulnerable groups in the community with bags of rice.
Giving an overview of the association, its Chairman, Ibrahim Kondeh said the one-year-old organization is aimed at helping every indigene of the community when in need. He explained how they had done so for one of their own who needed surgery that required the sum of ten million Leones but which the family could not afford at the time.
He encouraged those not fortunate to benefit from the donated rice to be patient. He added that they have a series of developmental projects to implement from which everyone will benefit in due course.
Speaking to Politico, the Secretary-General of the association, Mohamed Barrie said the distribution of the rice was done randomly in the six streets of Kindia town section. He noted that the beneficiaries were selected on an equitable basis taking into consideration the targeted beneficiaries.
Barrie added that their main objective is to ensure development in the community which he said has been deprived by other development partners for far too long.
Kelfala Bangalie, one of the beneficiaries told Politico that he was very much delighted about the goodwill from the association. He commended the entire membership of the group for what he described as a surprise package to them. He urged all those who didn’t get the rice to be patient and hopeful, adding that this is the first official programme of the association and that more goodies will reach people in due course.
