The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has released Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray’s co-accused, Marion Arouni after meeting the required bail conditions on Wednesday 24th November this year.
Arouni was charged together with former Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) 2018 election’s Presidential Candidate, Mansaray on allegations of sexual penetration with a minor last year.
Arouni was brought before the Court to answer to 2 Counts of Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting.
The Prosecution believes that Arouni conspired, aided and abetted Kamarainba in committing the said sexual penetration.
Both Arouni and Kamarainba denied the allegations for which they were arraigned for respectively.
On Tuesday 7th September 2021, Justice Samuel Omodele Taylor granted bail to both Arouni and Kamarainba at the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown. However, they both could not fulfil the requirement contained in the bail conditions.
The said bail was granted for 100 million Leones and two sureties in like sum with one being a property owner situated in the Western Area. The judge also ordered that both sureties and Arouni provide ID cards, passports and proof of residence to the Master and Registrar.
The court also ordered Arouni to be present twice a week to sign an attendance book and further submit all travelling documents to the Master and Registrar.
The first accused, Kamarainba is yet to meet his bail conditions after the judge granted him more than two months ago.
Arouni, an aunt of the alleged victim, had been on remand together with Kamarainba for over a year now.
The matter is still ongoing before the same judge with the second accused, Arouni set to start her defence in order to prove her innocence.
