Former State Chief Protocol, Fatmata Edna Kargbo, who was sacked after her church testimony in Nigeria sparked graft probe into her financial dealings, has bounced back with an appointment in the Foreign Service.
Ms Kargbo is among four presidential appointees announced on Thursday. She is going to Germany as deputy ambassador, replacing veteran journalist Jonathan Leigh, according to a statement released by the office of the president.
One ambassador and three deputy ambassadors were appointed in all, the statement signed by Dr Julius F Sandi, Secretary to the President, indicates.
Atumanni Dainkeh is going as ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, where a new Sierra Leone mission was effectively created; Yvonne Alexandrina King is going as deputy ambassador to the United Kingdom, replacing the late Agnes Dugba Macauley; while Duwai Sellu Lungay is going as deputy ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Fatmata Kargbo was the first State Chief Protocol under the Bio administration which assumed office in April 2018. But her tenure came to an abrupt end after her testimony at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, a church owned by the charismatic Nigeria pastor, Prophet TB Joshua.
In what was meant to give thanks to God for his blessings on her, Kargbo gave testimony about her wealth and displaying images of a story building she claimed to have completed within a short period of time in office.
When the video of the power point presentation surfaced on social media, it sparked questions about her wealth, for an official serving in an administration that had trumpeted an idea of a war on graft.
The public uproar forced the presidency to relive her and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) announcing a probe over unexplained wealth and possible abuse of office.
The ACC would however later clear Ms Kargbo.
