The Principal of in King Fahad Junior Secondary School in Tongo, in the eastern Kenema district has condemned the decision by the Minister of Education that only pupils with a certain aggregate passes at the National Primary School Education (NPSE) certificate will be allowed to write the junior secondary Basic Education Certificates Examination (BECE).

Hundreds of youth, mostly commercial motorbike riders, joined security personnel of the SSGI security firm in Moriba Town, Bonthe district on Saturday to protest against the Sierra Rutile company and top officials of SSGI over the mysterious death of a security guard, Sowahibu Kallon aka Lahai.

Member of Parliament for Constituency 62 in Mile 91 has led some Indian investors on a fact-finding mission to Massengbeh village in the Tonkolili district, where he says they hope to invest in large scale agriculture.

The MP, Aaron Aruna Koroma, welcomed the company, Rain Maker Sierra Leone Limited, and appreciated their coming to invest in that part of the country while assuring them that his people would protect the investment.

Dozens of youth in Portee, eastern Freetown, have threatened to burn down the National Power Authority (NPA) transformer, for what they claim is a biased supply of electricity within the vicinity.

One of them, Isatu Kamara, told Politico that the Wharf Road, Zara Lane and other streets had been getting regular supply of electricity for weeks now, whereas William Street and the other parts of the same community up to Brima Lane continued to "suffer from blackout".

Pujehun Youth for Development (KNSL/PYD) has awarded 33 scholarships to both primary and secondary school pupils in the district. Speaking to Politico the international liaison officer  of KNSL/PYD, Edward Mando said the provision of the scholarships was to prepare pupils of Pujehun district to "become useful citizens".
