Bank of Sierra Leone replies lawyer

The Governor of the central bank of Sierra Leone, ShekuSambadeenSesay has reacted to a letter written to him by Freetown lawyer Yada William which was carried in our Tuesday edition.

The lawyer had questioned the governor’s appointment of the head of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank during the recent trials of senior officials on fraud allegations. They were later found not wanting.

In a letter to Politico, a lawyer for the bank, SullayMannah said the bank had replied to the letter, which follows:

Child survival campaign launched

Save the Children Sierra Leone’s “Everyone Campaign”has planned a marathon challenge to call on world leaders and decision makers to take urgent actions on child survival and to fight against injustice against children.

Joanna Tom Kargbo, who manages the campaign, told Politico at their King Herman Road office in Freetown that child survival was important because no child was born to die.

Wells props up Balanta School of music

A delegation from one of the biggest music schools in London,Wells Music Academy was in Sierra Leone to pass on different music expertise to Balanta Music Academy, the country’s biggest.

Project manager of the visiting school, Amy Hugil, told Politico that their being here was to share a friendly gesture and to help the burgeoning music school where necessary.

Lawyer challenges central bank governor

A prominent Freetown lawyer, Yada Williams has challenged the Governor of the central bank of Sierra Leone, Sheku Sambadeen Sesay over appointments he made during the recent court case involving the top management of the Sierra Leone Commercial bank.
