UK, US commited to peaceful elections in Sierra Leone

In what is believed to be the first time in the recent history of diplomacy in Sierra Leone, the British High Commissioner and the United States Ambassador to the country have held a joint press conference in Freetown.

For the first time, twelve principals, headteachers and teachers have been awarded for their promotion of girls' education in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Rutile staff suspend hunger strike

Local senior staff  of the Sierra Rutile Mining Company said they have “temporarily” called off their almost two-week long hunger strike while the company looked into their grievances.

They hunger strike started on 3 October because of alleged ill-treatment from the company’s administrators.

Opposition coalition parties cry foul in Sierra Leone
