Twenty-year old Sierra Leonean star, Augustus Kargbo, led Reggio Audace to promotion to Seria B last Wednesday after a 21 year wait. His header was enough to win the Seria C against opponents, Bari and get his club automatically promoted.

Kargbo’s header was his tenth goal of the season in twenty four appearances.

Speaking to the UK based website, Football Sierra Leone.net, Kargbo said his success this season is down to support from the coaching staff.

Sierra Leone Premier League giants, Bo Rangers have said they will only represent the country based on merit and not on financial standing. In a statement released by the club on Monday, they said they will not represent the country in continental competitions if they are not formally declared champions.

The Premier League Board in consultation with all 14 clubs decided to cancel the rest of the season last week after the league was halted in March amidst fears of COVID-19.

The Sierra Leone Premier League has been cancelled after teams agreed that it will not be feasible to continue the remainder of the league. The decision was reached by the Premier League Board and representatives from all the 14 clubs on Wednesday.

Premier League teams also agreed that league leaders, Bo Rangers, Kamboi Eagles and East End Lions engage among themselves and decide on which two of them should occupy the two available spots to represent the country in CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup.

Chelsea center back, Antonio Rudiger has finally donated Le 1 billion to the country’s Free Quality Education program. The donation is a fulfilment of a promise he made in January this year during a meeting with President Julius Maada Bio at the sidelines of the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London.

Rudiger who was born in Germany to Sierra Leonean parents has been involved in the country’s development in the last few years.

The Kenema District Coordinator for COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee (DICOVERC) says they may not have space to quarantine patients suspected to have the coronavirus once schools reopen. Umaru Vandi Kondovoh’s concerns come as schools prepare to reopen next week.

The DICOVERC has used schools as quarantine facilities to keep suspected coronavirus patients. He said they had to resort to using schools because they couldn’t access other facilities.

The newly appointed President of the National Scrabble Association of Sierra Leone, Christian Asgill, has said his first priority will be to have more inclusion during his reign as President.

Asgill was appointed as the President of the association on Saturday, 20^th June.

In his address to members, he said: "My main aim now is to get everybody who should be on board to take this association forward.”
