The ongoing FA Cup has reached the semi final stage with the only division one side left in the competition  crashing out after being edged out by Kamboi Eagles of Kenema on post game penalties after 1-1 full time score line.

Speaking to Politico, Samuel Sesay, coach of Edmound Micheal Foundation Samuel Sesay said his boys put up a brave fight in the match but were unlucky to win the match. He said, in a "penalty shoot-out any team can win. Kamboi Eagles have won and are out, that is football. We must accept it".

Osman Charlis of the Young Athletic Sport Club (YASC), has won the Freetown Marathon Sponsored by Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) in Collaboration with Freetown City Council.

Speaking to Politico after winning the 12 kilometer race Charlis said he wasn't surprised that he won and noted that "I have trained for it for the past few month so I deserve to win". He said he has also won the Makeni Marathon and represented Sierra Leone in Burkinafaso and Ivory Coast where he said he came third in the indoor competitions.

The national Under-20 national team shooting has eliminated petit Syli National in the preliminary rounds of the African Youth Championship. Shooting stars go through on a 2-0 aggregate score.

Charlie Wright, the team's assistant coach told Politico on their return to Freetown that he was "very happy for such a big win for the team and for the country as a whole", noting that this win will be a turning point in Sierra Leone football because "it's been a long time since any national side won both legs in such a competition".

The Western Area Volleyball Association has ended its indoor and beach volleyball competitions at the Lumley Beach Arena. Young Stars Volleyball club dominated the indoor championship in both male and female categories.

In beach volleyball, Young Stars won the men's championship by defeating RSLAF by 2 sets to 1, while in the female category Solar Spikers won by 2 set to 0, against Super Six to emerge winners. The winners in the two categories received Le 500.000 while the runners up received Le 300.000.

The national team Leone Stars has been drawn against Swaziland in preliminary stages of AFCON qualifying matches in a game scheduled to take place in May.

A prominent football stakeholder, has called on the nation to approach the one million dollar fund launched by business man John Sesay for Leone Stars with some caution. Rodney Michael told Politico that the  "initiative is good and I do not care if it is politically intended...no problem for me there...in fact it is good to see someone consider football as a good political weapon".

The incumbent president of the Sierra Leone Lawn Tennis Association Kelvin Ezekiel Kelly has announced that he will not be contesting any position in the coming elective congress of the association, re-scheduled for the 3rd of May.

Kelly, who was speaking at the Atlantic Hall of the national stadium, said he wanted "to give another person whom the delegates trust, the opportunity to run the Association in the coming years.
