CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS AND THAT NOT-SO-HIDDEN HAND

As the parliamentary enquiry into how some civil society groups spent a whopping 51 million Euros in election-related activities in 2012 gets underway, we promise intense wall-to-wall coverage. We expect to hear a lot about per diems, fuel allocations, mobile phone top-up bills and SENSITIZATION workshops plus many more.

ANGLICAN BISHOP BARANTA: BUT CAN HE CLEANSE THE TEMPLE?

In Matthew's gospel 21:12&13, the story is told of how Jesus Christ cleared the temple of people trading, gambling and cheating others. In essence the temple had become a market place - just like Abacha Street. Well, this was more than 2,000 years ago and today's temple traders are not as crass as those in 1st century Palestine.

BAN KI MOON IS COMING: WE DROP HIM A FEW HINTS

On behalf of the good people of this great country, we extend a hand of welcome to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. We've been told he's coming here to perform the symbolic closing down of the UN Peace-building outfit (UNIPSIL), the successor organisation of the peacekeeping outfit UNAMSIL that helped bring peace to Sierra Leone after a decade of madness. ARMED FORCES DAY IS HERE AGAIN BUT PROBLEMS REMAIN

Another Armed Forces holiday is around. On this day every year, our soldiers are made to feel loved and cared for. Pallo puts on a big show, costing a lot of money and he talks all over the place about what he has done for our soldiers. To be honest there's nothing wrong with people creating the impression the world rests on their shoulders. What would be wrong is when in probably "acknowledging" that, we do not point out that not all that glitters is gold.
