EMERGENCY POWER SUPPLY IN 2007: EMERGENCY POWER SUPPLY IN 2015

The more things change, they say, the more they remain the same. The Red Movement started out in governance with an emergency power supply programme. Eight years on they are on their way back to the emergency power supply programme. The first such programme ended with an ACC indictment, we hope the latest one doesn't end that way. We can only hope because this country is spending so much money on trying to get electricity in our homes without getting the results we need.

NRA EXCEEDS TARGETS BUT SIERRA LEONEANS MISS ALL TARGETS

Recently, the NRA was all over the media celebrating that they had met the targets set for them by De Pa in terms of revenue generation for the tax year. We have nothing against the Lady Commissioner and her people but we absolutely believe that the tax system they are operating is totally unfair and on the wider question, it's not delivering what all tax systems promise. We don't necessarily blame them entirely.

CHIEF SIDIKIE LOSES FIRST ROUND BUT LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY

The other day we outlined a few options open to Chief Sidikie following the ratification of the decision to remove him from the Red Movement at an emergency delegates' conference in Freetown.

PERHAPS SLAJ SHOULD ALSO NOW GO TO THE SUPREME COURT

We understand that two political parties have also gone to the Supreme Court with a set of eleven constitutional questions for urgent interpretation. That's beside what prominent lawyer Blyden Jenkins-Johnston has already presented to the court on behalf of Chief Sidikie. These are interesting times to be a Sierra Leonean living in Sierra Leone. People and institutions are being tested in ways they've never imagined.
