Njala University, has on Thursday 4th December 2022 completed matriculation ceremonies for all freshmen under graduate students for its campuses across Sierra Leone. With the Towama and Kowama campuses in Bo registering more than 3, 000 students.
Matriculation ceremony for the post graduate students according to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ayouba Koroma has been indefinitely suspended by the university.
In his welcome address at the ceremony, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Bo campus Proff. Mohamed S. Fofanah noted that matriculation marks a special mile stone as it provides fresh students the confidence of being part of the university.
He cautioned the new students to be role models as they come to join the many other students and make good use of the opportunity to be part of the University.
In his statement the acting chancellor and Principal of the University, Proff. Andrew Baimba congratulated the freshmen into the university. He added that matriculation ceremony is a formal way of welcoming the freshmen into the University and for them to meet and be familiar with the university officials like the principal. He said their aim is to ensure that Njala University becomes one of the best in Africa.
As he encourages the students to be diligent in their studies, he warned that the punishment for cheating in Examination is expulsion.
Professor Baimba noted that it is the responsibility of his administration to protect students of the University.
He also admonished the lecturers to be professionals to the students, noting that the university is a refinery place of raw materials into finished goods.
Signing of the University register climaxed the event.
