A senior police officer at the Kenema Police Division, Margaret Feika, who is standing trial at the Kenema Magistrate Court for obtaining goods by fraud, failed to appear again before presiding Magistrate Gershon Macarthy of the Kenema Magistrate court.
According to the particulars of offence in December 2021, the accused Feika took the goods of Mamawa Koroma at IDA Section in Kenema valued at Le1, 350,000 and has since failed to pay for the goods she took on credit after so many unmet promises.
Magistrate Marcarthy asked about the accused police officer, and was told that she was not in court.
The magistrate immediately called the Assistant Inspector General of Police, East to express his dissatisfaction over the continued defiance of one of his police officers to the court, and promised to take further action.
"Police officers have no right to use police power to disadvantage others. This is injustice! I will have to talk to the High Court Judge and the Attorney General for advice on this matter," the Magistrate said. The matter was adjourned to June 24 this year.
